The men have recently completed 120 White Crosses for a joint venture between the Rotorua District Council and the R.S.A. to commemorate the number of Rotorua men who fell in battle during the 1914-1918 war. These will be on show during the Anzac celebrations next year and for several years to follow. This type of commemoration is being re-enacted throughout NZ so other Menz Shed groups may be contacted or perhaps they could ask their local RSA if they can help with a similar project.
We donated a fair amount of machinery to Howick Menz Shed. This is excess machinery we are lucky enough to have thanks to generous donations received.
We are perhaps unique in that we operate a Community Centre here at 16, Te Ngae Rd, 5 days a week from 9.30 a.m. till 2.p.m. and are kept busy. We provide premises for other charity groups, and run our administration office here, this way we can keep abreast with enquiries for Menz Shed.
Also we take a group from I.H.C. one morning a week and some men from a local Retirement village and organise them with simple projects, at present they are making trays and breadboards.
