The shed was opened on 7 May 2014. There were 25 people there including representatives from Picton and Blenheim Men’s shed and REAP. Three from Waimea Shed ( including Alan Kissell) turned up after 12 and had an interesting discussion with those still there.

Although the Marlborough District Council have offered us a site on a paper road, the Menzshed Committee realise that it will be a long haul until we can raise sufficient funds to be able to put a shed on the site, so we are very grateful to Port Marlborough for their offer of a shed at the Havelock Marina. So Shed 67 will be our home for a couple of years at least.

Our members now have the floor of the shed concreted and have built a work bench. Havelock locals have been very generous in donating machinery and tools to us, as have the Blenheim and Picton’s Men’s Sheds.

Havelock opening 1We are also grateful to Canterbury Community Trust for their grant to us and to Havelock Mussel Festival for their pledge, which means that we can open the Shed debt free.

Now that we are in a situation to open the shed, we will be able to accept Havelock men into our shed and begin working on more projects.

Meantime we have been giving assistance to communities involved in native and indigenous plantings.
