Richard will be coordinating a variety of resources for sheds and sheddies. Here’s his introduction… |
I have been a member of the Te Awamutu Community Menz Shed for seven years. I started my life in Te Kuiti in the Northern King County where I was educated at Pio Pio Primary School and then New Plymouth Boys High School. When I married in 1970, we purchased a sheep and beef cattle farm west of Te Kuiti. We raised a family of three children here and not living far from the Waitomo Caves had everything a family could wish for.
In the late 1980s, we transitioned from farming to establishing a new venture in Ohaupo (south of Hamilton), focusing on exporting cut flowers to the world. After a severe weather event in 2005 we diversified and became vegetable growers selling our produce at local farmers markets. Seven years ago, we moved to Te Awamutu and have since reallocated our time between the local Men’s Shed and outdoor bowls.
I have been self-employed virtually my whole working life. My interests include family research, writing, and formatting books for myself and other people. My leisure time is divided between walking and swimming at the indoor pool in Te Awamutu.
